Job Summary
Responsible for creating, implementing, and leading education & training programs for both the orientation/onboarding and continuing professional development of research coordinators, investigators and other research staff across the health system. Partners with system leadership to develop competent research teams and overall compliance with local, federal, and international regulatory agencies. Leads research team member development through various research education initiatives and ongoing communication and collaboration with research leadership. Collaborates with research and administrative leaders to improve and monitor research-related education/training, enhance research performance and optimize the experiences of research subjects.
Job Specific Duties
- Creates, implements and leads education & training programs for the continuing professional development of research coordinators, investigators and other research staff across the health system.
- Coordinates, manages and conducts orientation/onboarding of research coordinators, other research staff and research volunteers.
- Coaches and counsels new employees when orientation milestones are not achieved and develops remediation plan.
- Assists or conducts research orientation training and other research-related training events for residents and fellows.
- Oversees the Research Institute department intranet site and external website to ensure research educational & training resources are current.
- Creates and revises research educational materials.
- Evaluates research training effectiveness by assessing application of learning; redesigning training modules; recommending future training programs.
- Monitors new research regulatory requirements by monitoring regulatory websites and regulatory communications.
- Assist leadership by reviewing and revising policies based on regulatory standards and current research guidance and observed operating practices.
- Promotes research education offerings via emails, websites or other NCHS communication routes.
- Partners with key stakeholders and other leaders to optimize and successfully execute education & training events.
Qualifications
Minimum Job Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Science, Education or related field
- Active clinical research certification through ACRP, SoCRA or research compliance certification through HCCA or SQA, or CIP certification
- 4-7 years of clinical research experience
- 1-3 years of experience teaching in adult professional environment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrate strong verbal communication skills allowing for effective communication with clinicians and employees.
- Good written and oral communication skills with ability to tailor communication to multiple levels within the organization.
- Ability to design and direct appropriate education and training activities.
- Ability to work well with new employees, train employees, and adapt to diverse situations.
- Ability to assess organization & individual needs to learning objectives and devise effective training solutions.
- Strong interpersonal and facilitation skills, including the ability to build effective interpersonal relationships, foster and contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
- Demonstrates group presentation skills.
- Strong Microsoft PowerPoint skills used to visually convey compelling and easy to understand messages.
- Able to work well as a team member and to work independently.
- Ability to prioritize work independently as needed and evaluate workload in order to meet deadlines.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
