Global Donor & Volunteer Engagement Associate
Job Description
Location: 100% remote.

The Opportunity
As the Global Donor & Volunteer Engagement Associate, you’ll engage volunteers and donors worldwide in supporting Room to Read’s mission through fundraising and activities to raise brand awareness. Using your exceptional relationship building skills and talent in working across cultures, you’ll liaise with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen the commitment of volunteers and donors. Additionally, you’ll craft volunteer communications, develop resources for both volunteers and Room to Read staff to use in fundraising, and plan and coordinate program site visits in Africa and Asia.
You’ll report to the Associate Director, Global Partnerships, Stakeholder and Community Engagement, and will work with staff across Room to Read’s international offices. This is a full time, one-year fixed-term with the possibility to extend.

What You’ll Do:
Volunteer Engagement: (50%)
- Maintain regular communications with volunteers, including writing bi-weekly newsletters, planning and conducting quarterly video calls, answering general inquires, and posting daily on Room to Read’s volunteer Facebook page to facilitate connections among volunteers.
- Develop content for social media posts, videos, blogs, recruitment campaigns, etc., to support the growth of the volunteer program.
- Encourage worldwide/global volunteer participation by creating a welcoming onboarding journey, developing toolkits for volunteers to fundraise in their communities and making the volunteer resource hub on Room to Read’s website more user-friendly
- Support the design and implementation of volunteer appreciation and recognition efforts, including opportunities for volunteers to meet and engage with Room to Read staff and global offices.
- Recruit and manage volunteers to work on special projects that support the global volunteer engagement program.
Donor Engagement (35%)
- Coordinate all logistics for high-net-worth donor visits to Room to Read’s projects in Africa and Asia (estimated 2-3 visits per month) and support the planning of group trips for corporate partners.
- Adapt materials and messaging provided by the Marketing & Communications team for use with Global Partnership stakeholders, including corporation and foundation donors, legacy donors, and volunteers.
- Create easy-to-use, hands-on activities for relationship managers to use during meetings and events with corporate and foundation donors to promote an understanding of our programs.
General Operations (15%)
- Take ownership of and recommend improvements to various online platforms for volunteers and donor site visits. Main platforms include database record management (Salesforce), marketing communications (Engaging Networks), website management (Umbraco), and campaign and event management (Engaging Networks).
- Produce activity alerts and reports to ensure relevant internal stakeholders have visibility to volunteer and donor site visit activities and institute processes for tracking and measuring results of volunteers’ activities.
- Onboard and train new development and communications staff on Stakeholder and Community Engagement activities.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in nonprofit, client relationships or volunteer management role
- Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain relationships with volunteers and donors
- Excellent marketing communications/writing and editing ability
- Strong cross-cultural communications skills; international work experience a plus
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Experience with Salesforce or other CRM
- Prior experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented global or regional organization
- Legally eligible to work in the United States; no sponsorship provided
We Offer:
- Compensation: The salary range for this role is $61,404 to $84,431 and is negotiable beyond that based on experience and skillset.
