AbleLight is currently seeking a Senior Director Philanthropy & Community Engagement that will lead the Development team in driving and obtaining results with ambitious revenue goals to engage and empower members of the development team, stewardship team and grants team as well as top funders to meet year over year development goals.

What we want to see from you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications, or related field.
  • 7 years of progressive experience in nonprofit work, fundraising, and development or progressive experience in fundraising, or the equivalent in a corporate setting, including experience in major, principal, and annual leadership gifts fund-raising for the non-profit sector.
  • 5 years of progressive leadership experience.
  • Must be able to travel 20 – 35% across multiple markets to observe, coach and lead as well as work with CDO team.
  • Ability to strategically link organizational and programmatic initiatives with opportunities for fundraising.
  • Ability to create meaningful and memorable donor cultivation and fundraising events using Benevon Sustainable Fundraising Model.
  • Ability to think strategically about the long-term trajectory of our work and effectively communicate the impact of investing in our community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including solid storytelling, editorial, and presentation skills.
  • Highly motivated, self-starting, and results-driven approach.
  • Exceptional organizational and planning skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent relationship building with an ability to communicate effectively with diverse internal and external partners.

What you will be doing:
Community Engagement

  • Direct, robust program for year-round community engagement, including major fundraising events, community volunteer events, and donor network events, driving deeper connection and increased philanthropic investment.
  • Strategic development and execution of annual community giving and event campaigns.

Development and Stewardship of Donors

Develops engagement opportunities and event programming to facilitate donor prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship efforts effectively. Ensure excellent and dynamic donor stewardship for all leadership donors ($1,000 and up), including recognition and acknowledgment in partnership with the Operations team – will have own individual portfolio of Top 20% to own, manage, cultivate and nurture.

  • Direct individual philanthropy and community engagement efforts and organize high ROI portfolios assigned to direct reports.
  • Develop donor engagement and stewardship tools, including messaging and collateral, in partnership with the CDO and Marketing and Communications team.
  • Strategic development and execution of annual community giving and event campaigns.
  • Work collaboratively with CDO and interdepartmental leadership to grow revenue and increase individual donor base across workplace, community, and events campaigns.
  • In partnership with CDO, establish revenue goals annually, measure progress and assess when strategies or tactics are productive and need to be adjusted or reimagined to achieve short- and long-term success.

Strategy Development and Execution

  • Participates in the development and execution of development strategy.
  • In partnership with CDO and interdepartmental leadership, track revenue projections, provide data relative to community giving and events, and manage a portion of the departmental expense budget.
