Job purpose:

In this exempt position, you will serve as the Community Development & Engagement Coordinator for WBEC-West (a nonprofit 501c3 corporation). The position is designed to strengthen existing relationships and build new relationships, with women business owners and corporations. This role is responsible for promoting brand awareness through presentations, workshops detailed planning, organization, vendor negotiation skills to both attend and create cost-effective sought-after events geared towards creating new opportunities and spaces for women owned businesses to connect with each other and corporations, share experiences, learn the latest best practices and trends

The goal of a Community Outreach & Event Coordinator is to increase the awareness of the value of becoming a WBENC Certified Women Business Enterprise. You will communicate and engage with women owned businesses’ in the local community (both online and offline) in meaningful ways to increase the WBEC-West brand awareness, generate interest in certification and increase the number of certified women business enterprises (WBEs). You'll build relationships within the existing WBEC-West community and among local organizations, manage booths, host, organize and attend events.

Community Outreach & Engagement Expectations:

1. Increase the awareness of WBENC certification and WBEC-West by

a. Identifying and attending community events to promote certification and WBEC-West

b. Identifying and developing strategic relationships with other organizations

c. Identify potential partnering organizations

d. Identify and create mutually beneficial opportunities with partner organizations

e. Establishing relationships with organizations that can provide additional opportunities and support for WBEs

2. Participate in the creation of events to promote WBEC-West and that provide opportunities to certified WBEs that connect them to

a. Procurement opportunities

b. Educational opportunities

c. Corporation

d. Other WBEs

3. Other duties as assigned

Desirable Knowledge and Skills:

Excellent and professional verbal and written communication skills.

Solid project and event management organization and planning.

Ability to create sustainable partnerships and recruit cash and in-kind sponsorships.

Experience in program implementation and development, coordination, and evaluation.

Experience in organizing and engagement with the ability to convene, communicate with and motivate a variety of people.

Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, responsibilities, and deadlines with a strong attention to detail.

Aptitude for creative problem-solving and quick-thinking.

Ability to operate both independently as well as with team members with great interpersonal skills.

Basic budget-keeping familiarity and record keeping abilities.

Solid understanding of and proficiency in social media sites, tactics, and audiences Basic graphic design skills a plus.

Knowledge of basic business principles

Equipment and Systems / Programs Utilized:

Proficient in basic computer applications, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and internet usage (WordPress, Squarespace, and other related platforms).

Familiarity with use of platforms such as Office 365, Gmail, Gcal, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.

Physical Requirements of Position:

Sitting and operating a personal computer and telephone for extended periods of time; occasionally standing and walking throughout day to manage conference and event booths. Ability to bend, stoop, lift and transport up to 25 lbs. of materials,

operate other office equipment and perform administrative duties, as well as occasional pushing and pulling of dollies in transporting of both marketing and booth material.

Ability and willingness to travel at least 30% by car within the assigned territory. Occasional overnight travel or air travel may be required.

Ability and willingness to work evenings as required for the job.

Must have valid driver's license, access to reliable vehicle, and good driving record.

Required Education and Background Experience:

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in related field

2. Excellent teamwork skills

3. Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

4. Must be able to travel up to 5-10% of the time out of state

5. Experience working in a non-profit professional services organization

6. 1 – 3 years of experience in a position(s) with comparable responsibilities

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
