Job Responsibilities:

The Manager, Science and Research Communications leads ADA channel plans and content to translate complex scientific and health policy research and analyses into compelling stories for public and professional audiences to position ADA as the preeminent resource on oral health. By applying existing and evolving industry best practices, the manager leads cross-divisional teams, develops and executes omni-channel communications plans, and creates content that can lead to improvements in public health and dental materials while elevating the ADA as the leading resource of cutting-edge research published in peer-reviewed journals including The Journal of the American Dental Association and JADA: Foundational Science: research conducted by the ADA Science & Research Institute and ADA Health Policy Institute; and additional research collaborations between the ADA and other entities.

Must-Have:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 years of experience managing complex and collaborative communications programs, working in a digital and social media environment
  • Experience creating, executing, and measuring highly-effective communications efforts, understanding content development and delivery, and identifying insights
  • Experience developing and executing owned, earned, and paid media channels and working directly with subject matter experts
  • Must have excellent writing, editing, speaking, analytical, collaborative, project management, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Must have knowledge of traditional and digital communications
  • Must have the ability to build and manage diverse relationships; work effectively both independently and in a team
  • Lead with high energy and a strong sense of accountability
  • Must be able to analyze, synthesize and utilize data; translate complex topics into easily understandable language
  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgment, work well under pressure and within deadlines, and collaborate with cross-divisional teams and external organizations
  • Ability to write for the public, dental profession, and allied health professionals; research, strategize and translate technical messages, issues, and policy into compelling plain language.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Some evening/weekend work. May be required to travel several times a year for ADA meetings, external conferences such as AADR, and media training or events

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience in healthcare, science, research, technical or journal communications. Experience with content management systems, media, and social media distribution, Google Analytics
