Southside Youth Senter
Title: Executive Director
Reports To: Board of Directors
Classification: Salary Exempt
Introduction:
The Executive Director executes a shared vision for the Southside Youth Senter (SYS). Representative
assumes full ownership and is principally responsible for the overall leadership and management of the
SYS After-School, Holiday, Summer and Sports Programs.
The Executive Director maintains oversight to ensure that SYS facilities are clean, organized, safe and an
overall great place for children to develop. Representative is tasked with a wide variety of responsibilities
that include leading, training and evaluating staff, interacting with parents, marketing, and other
business-related duties. The Executive Director must have a strong desire to provide a meaningful and
beneficial experience for children.
The Executive Director must be a strong leader and have exceptional administrative abilities.
Representative must be an extremely effective communicator (oral and written), as they will be interacting
with the Board, funders, peers, and the media. It is imperative that they are highly organized,
detail-oriented, trustworthy, and responsible.
General Responsibilities:
1. Program development, implementation, evaluation and refinement
2. Budgeting and financial analysis
3. Marketing and organizational fundraising
4. Membership management and development
5. Establish and maintain internal controls for a true business organization
6. Development and maintenance of a strategic plan
Specific Responsibilities:
1. Responsible to ensure effective implementation of the SYS After-School,
Holiday, Summer and Sports Programs
2. Maintains effective two-way communication with the Board of Directors
regarding critical issues involving safety/security, significant personnel issues, material issues,
liability exposure, financial status and all other things related to the continuing operations of SYS
3. Monitors and identifies needs, issues, trends, and developments that pertain to
program activities
4. Responsible for the recruitment, hiring and training of all staff
5. Responsible for developing and maintaining volunteer participation
6. Develop and implement new programs and activities for SYS
7. Develop special SYS, family and youth events as it relates to programs, public
relations and membership
8. Follows and continually evaluates SYS financial policies and procedures
9. Budget development
10. Purchase supplies and equipment
11. Maintain website and maintain all forms of social media. Develop other
materials as required for promotional and public information.
12. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, organization and repair of facilities 13. Perform other duties
as assigned by Board Members
Qualifications:
1. Have a true passion, vision and imagination. Demonstrate exceptional
leadership abilities and a high level of integrity. Willing to assume full ownership and responsibility
for all programs and activities related to SYS
2. A minimum of 5 years of management experience with increasing levels of responsibility and
management of staff, preferably within a nonprofit or government agency involved in or related to
education or child care
3. Must be over 21 years of age and hold a valid Texas drivers' license
4. A bachelor's degree is preferred, but not required
5. Must have exceptional administrative ability and be very computer literate
6. Have an excellent command of the English language (both oral and written);
excel at interpersonal communications
7. Effectively manage multiple tasks and set priorities
8. Have the ability to recruit, train, counsel and motivate staff and volunteers
9. Must respond favorably to and follow the direction of the Board of Directors
10. Must hold a certificate in nonprofit management or agree to complete a nonprofit management certificate program within 12 months of hire.
11. Be subject to a background check
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $35,568.00 per year
