The Direct Distributions Programs are integral to the CAFB’s mission through its work of distributing food for communities in need throughout Greater Washington. The DDP Community-Based Programs Manager will serve the critical role of overseeing the two community-based direct distribution programs: Community Marketplace and Mobile Market as well as serve as a manager for grants. These programs are designed to provide food directly into high need communities in DC, MD, and VA where other emergency food partners are not present or unable to meet the demand. The DDP Community-Based Programs Manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of 2 staff members and working with colleagues in Operations, Food Resources, Regional Teams, and Volunteers. This role includes working a shifted schedule to enable attendance at 1-2 Saturday Community Marketplaces per month in a support role for a total of 15 Community Marketplaces per year and to act as a backup Community Marketplace leader when needed.


Essential Functions:

Program Management - 60%

  • Work with the Director, DDP to develop annual work plans designed to achieve programmatic and departmental meals goals.
  • Analyze program participation, food distribution, and expense activities to create stability and ensure program growth and impact.
  • Synthesize qualitative and quantitative data, key performance indicators, trends, and findings to measure effectiveness and communicate impact to stakeholders, donors, CAFB leadership and colleagues.
  • Standardize requirements, menus, and procedures across distribution programs whenever possible to maintain high quality programming.
  • Manage portfolio of grants supporting DDP programs and act as point of contact to ensure funding requirements are met.
  • Proactively support communication and collaboration across the diverse teams to ensure program goals are met (Volunteers, Food Resources, and Operations).

Team Management – 25%

  • Manage and support two team members across two distinct programs: Community Marketplace, Mobile Market and act as support to ensure program coverage when needed including shifted schedule to provide coverage at 1-2 Saturday Community Marketplaces per month (~15 Saturdays per year). Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies.
  • Provide regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports, constructive feedback, annual performance reviews, coaching, and support for each employee’s ongoing professional development
  • Lead recruiting and training of new hires as needed
  • Lead programmatic team meetings

Program Growth & Evaluation - 15%

  • Analyze program participation, food distribution, and expense activities to create stability and ensure program growth and impact.
  • Review program data and identify opportunities to expand impact of Community Marketplace and Mobile Market programs; Work with Coordinators to identify growth opportunities within existing sites.
  • Working with CAFB colleagues, develop and implement ways to solicit feedback from clients and on-site program coordinators.
  • Support the continued evolution of the Mobile Market and Community Marketplace programs.
  • Proactively identify challenges and seek solutions to ensure continuity and programmatic fidelity across all community-based programs.
  • Support Distribution Network Evolution work and represent community-based programs throughout the strategic planning process.
