About us

The Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage (NSAA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting all forms of Nordic skiing in the greater Anchorage area. The organization maintains and grooms 160 kilometers of world-class ski trails, organizes and oversees a variety of races, and offers skiing events, programs, and lessons geared towards all ages and abilities. Staffed by a small but energetic workforce, NSAA relies on many dedicated volunteers to carry out its diverse programs and activities. NSAA is supported by more than 4,000 members, as well as corporate sponsors, private and public grants, and community partnerships. The program manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the NSAA’s programs as well as assisting with NSAA events, ensuring their smooth and efficient operation in a manner that supports the mission and values of NSAA. The program manager will work with the Executive Director, Event Manager, NSAA Board, staff, and volunteers to oversee event and program operations, including budgeting of programs, fundraising (if needed), registration and publicity, and reporting and tracking. The program manager is expected to be able to work independently with minimal supervision, using initiative and judgment in dealing with workflow and most situations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead, implement, organize, advertise, and promote programs
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and in-person inquiries regarding programs.
  • Oversee Membership, registration, and online membership system (Neon)
  • Manage Donor Recognition and Sponsorship Recognition pull-through
  • Lead management and updates of NSAA's Website
  • Assist with social media
  • Lead Event Registrations and updates (work with Events Manager)
  • Manage NSAA General Merchandise program
  • Write foundation reports and proposals, and research new foundation grant opportunities.
  • Organize and attend PR events, trade shows, and fall ski swaps.
  • Work with the Newsletter editor to produce the Nordic Skier (monthly newsletter).
  • Connect trail user groups to trails through work parties, volunteer opportunities, and community events.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Executive Director, Event Manager and NSAA staff and inform the Board of current trends, issues, and activities amongst NSAA core programs to facilitate good decisions and implementation.
  • Successfully complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • College degree or equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communications skills, with the ability to effectively utilize social media for the benefit of the organization.
  • Superior organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Familiarity with Apple Computers, Google Business Suite, and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Ability to interact in a pleasant, professional manner will all types of people and to perform under pressure in an environment where frequent interruptions are common.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including funders and volunteers.
  • Event and Program Management experience.
  • Marketing and communications experience, graphic design, and advertising experience preferred.
  • Fundraising experience, including grant writing, tracking, and reporting, is preferred.
  • A background in skiing is preferred.
