How Will You Make an Impact?
The Admissions and Selection Research and Development (ASRD) team is looking for a Senior Selection Research Analyst. The team investigates opportunities to provide medical school admissions officers, residency and fellowship program directors and their teams, and applicants and the parties that support them with information and tools that help them make better informed and more efficient decisions, and to do so in a manner that aligns with the AAMC’s mission and strategic priorities. The team has most recently rolled out the AAMC PREview™ professional readiness exam, a standardized exam designed to assess examinees’ understanding of effective pre-professional behavior across eight core competencies for entering medical school.
 
You will be responsible for planning and executing on research, development, and implementation of new tools for use in medical school admissions and residency selection. You will evaluate the psychometric properties, benefits, and risks of these new tools in order to aid admissions and selections. Specific tools and methods might include: SJTs, virtual interviews, biodata, big data analyses, AI or machine learning, validation studies, and evaluating innovative selection and admissions processes.
  • Contribute to decisions about research methodology, psychometrics, and analytic approaches.
  • Contribute to a broad range of work and build a variety of partnerships to accomplish goals.
  • Collaborations with medical schools, residency programs, AAMC staff from multiple clusters, AAMC researchers, vendors, constituent partners, and members of the Technical Advisory Committee.
  • Responsible for pulling, cleaning, and managing data from AAMC’s data warehouse. Using complex statistical approaches, efficiently and accurately analyze data and create reports and data displays describing study results for medical schools and residency programs.
 
What Will You Bring to this Role?
  • Master’s degree in the field of Industrial-Organizational Psychology or a related field with an emphasis on personnel selection, psychometrics, and validation is required; Doctoral degree is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of relevant work experience is required.
  • You have intermediate knowledge of personnel selection, validation research, research design, statistics, and psychometrics.
  • You have advanced skills in Microsoft office suite, Windows, and database environments; Advanced SPSS or SAS or R experience.
  • You have experience leading large projects, complex business processes, and managing vendors
  • You have a proven ability to manage project timelines, raise issues appropriately, and identify sources of problems and recommend solutions.
  • You can work in a consensus-based decision-making environment.
  • Your verbal and written communication abilities are exceptional.
  • You have a shown ability to foster relationships with a wide variety of internal and external partners; able to demonstrate maturity, tact, and sound judgment in dealing with AAMC staff and constituents.
  • You can prioritize multiple, critical tasks while maintaining a high level of service, attention to detail, and a strict schedule.

If a bachelor’s degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions. One year of college course work at an accredited institution is equivalent to one year of related work experience.
