About The Position
 

The Project Coordinator facilitates programmatic and financial activities for multiple research programs within a portfolio. S/He works closely with the Director of Research and Operations and Program Manager in the monitoring of active projects to ensure compliance and timely completion of study milestones. Activities may include oversight of study initiation, programmatic and financial monitoring of projects, and study closeout. Fulfill other related administrative duties as required.
 

About The Project
 

MIRROR is a Defense Health Agency-funded collaboratory consisting of over 26 Military treatment facilities and civilian institutions. MIRROR provides critical infrastructure, operational, and research support to advance the treatment and preventive care for Service Members with non-combat related musculoskeletal injury (MSKI) for over 40+ active clinical studies. Headquartered at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) within the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and administered by The Geneva Foundation, MIRROR coordinates interservice partnerships with the primary military treatment facilities, as well as other sites that experience a high volume of MSKI but lack a strong infrastructure to conduct rigorous clinical and translational studies. MIRROR engages in a broad scope of projects, including epidemiological investigation, investigator-initiated pilots, and prospective randomized multisite clinical trials. To date, MIRROR has contributed to approximately 80 high value knowledge products including publications, abstracts, post-operative rehabilitation protocols, and education/training courses.
 

Salary Range
 

$52,500- $72,000. Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

 
Responsibilities:
  • Supports Director of Operations, Program Manager, and Research Staff to develop, maintain, and coordinate various aspects of multiple research projects
  • Provide guidance to the site PIs and research teams throughout the life of the program
  • Hold regular meetings with clients to discuss progress on project, challenges, and questions on upcoming phases (no less than quarterly)
  • Ensure compliance with 2 CFR §200 Regulations, DoDGAR, FAR, and other applicable sponsor regulations
  • Initiate and oversee subcontract, vendor, and independent contract agreements, monitoring reporting requirements and completion of deliverable
  • Responsible for maintaining all documentation related to project activities
  • Ensure timeliness of progress report(s) to awarding agency
  • Coordinate equipment & materials procurement, and travel for research teams
  • Ensure equipment is properly insured and entered on equipment log and/or proffered, as applicable
  • Review all budget expenditures and charge requests to ensure compliance with approved budget, appropriate approvals, 2 CFR §200, and verify that purchase does not require prior approval
  • Ensure accuracy of monthly budget reports and distribute to research teams for active projects
  • Analyze financial spend-down in conjunction with programmatic progress. Provide guidance to PM and PI should deficiencies be identified
  • Intervene when problems are anticipated or progress has slowed, and respond to sponsor inquiries of project status
  • Assist with coordinating quarterly meetings within National Capital Region
 
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 2-3 years’ experience in grant or contract administration required
  • 2-3 years non-profit, research, or healthcare experience desired
  • 1-2 years’ experience in staff or project management preferred
  • Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication
  • Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly and professional demeanor
  • Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in fast-paced, high-pressured environment with strict deadlines and to manage multiple projects
  • Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office Software
  • Health care background and knowledge of military system preferred
  • Knowledgeable of federal regulations and policies relating to sponsored research including 2 CFR 200
