Your Role

We are seeking an Employee Relations Specialist to function as an employee relations Subject Matter Expert (“SME”), contributing to the support and enhancement of policy and process, mainly supporting US operations but with opportunities to support globally.

 

The primary function of the role is conducting internal employment investigations on behalf of the foundation. The role also provides support to address various employee relations and compliance issues, including performance management and global separations.

 

The role will develop a deep understanding of the foundation’s businesses and associated roles, and in partnership with the Employee Relations Lead will identify trends and opportunities for improvement in process, policy, and education.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Autonomously conduct investigations of internal workplace policy concerns raised through internal and external channels. Investigative steps include interviewing relevant parties, assessing risk, analyzing supporting documentation, and synthesizing information gathered to draft internal reports with factual findings.
  • Maintain thorough records and prepare high quality written reports of the investigation which provide a clear and logical account of the allegations, investigative work performed, key findings and conclusions, ensuring that the conclusion is evidence based.
  • Own and maintain consistent global processes associated with employee separations in partnership with HR operations teams, HR Business Partners/Consultants and Legal.
  • Advise HR stakeholders, including HR Business Partners/Consultants, about global separation management and compliance. Partner with Legal to ensure global compliance.
  • Own and maintain internal documentation and resources on intranet and internal HR SharePoint.
  • Handle the policy, process and documentation questions from HR Business Partners/Consultants and HR COEs.
  • Create materials, conduct trainings, and support implementation on related policies and processes.
  • Own additional separation and performance-related support as processes continue to be developed and updated.
  • Provide overflow and back-up support to Employee Relations Lead.

 

Your Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required, with 3+ years of related experience.
  • Credentials in business, HR, employee relations, and/or law are beneficial.
  • Experience in the successful management of employee relations activities, including employment investigations, with willingness to expand knowledge to understand broader HR processes and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of US employment law trends, best practices, and regulatory issues.
  • Some experience with employee relations issues outside of the US is highly preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose problems to identify and drive appropriate solutions.
  • Project management skills and bias for action to ensure timely completion of projects and investigations.
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills.
  • A track record of being highly organized with strong attention to detail and systems thinking.
  • Strong business acumen with client orientation.
  • Experience assessing organizational risk and providing guidance to mitigate.
  • Familiarity with working in a highly complex, matrix environment and/or working across multiple groups to drive issues to resolution.
  • Conflict management and de-escalation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills, verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MS office with the willingness to deepen skills in analytical tools.
  • Experience with, or willingness to learn, case management systems and HRIS (Workday) technology.

 

  • Must be able to legally work in the country where this position is located without visa sponsorship.

 

The typical salary range for this role is $71,070.00 to $130,810.00. The exact offer will be determined by a variety of factors such as the candidate’s individual skills, qualifications, and experience relative to the requirements of the role.
