Your Main Duties and Responsibilities:

As the Assistant Controller, you will lead, direct, and provide oversight of all aspects of the accounting functions of BBH, including, but not limited to:

  • General Ledger
  • Accounts payable
  • Fixed assets
  • Month-end processes
  • Cash Receipts
  • Payroll
  • Cash forecasting
  • Revenue and expenditure variance analysis
  • Capital Assets
  • Trust Account reconciliation
  • Fund Accounting
  • Debt activity
  • Revenue oversight including Accounts Receivable

Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements. Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles. Coordinate and complete annual audits. Provide recommendations and improve systems and procedures. Initiate coaching and corrective actions. Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy. Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions. Meet financial accounting objectives.

You will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer to establish short- and long-term goals for the team. You will supervise two senior accountants, the payroll coordinator, the accounts payable specialist, and the accounting assistant.

Specific Knowledge needed to be successful in this role:

  • Financial analysis
  • GAPP, not-for-profit preferred
  • Experience working with multiple intercompany entities.
  • Experience managing a financial team.
  • Financial statement review and preparation
  • Experience with hands-on supervision and tracking of day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Experience implementing the following processes: month-end, audit, payroll, cash, forecasting, capital asset management, reconciliations, accounts payable, and grants.

Education and Skills Required:

  • BS degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5 or more years of experience as an Accounting Manager, or Financial Manager
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
  • Proven knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
