Compensation: $70,000 - $83,000

Position Summary

The Foundation and Grants Manager (Manager) will lead in the cultivation and stewardship of the Center’s grants with foundations, corporate and government funders, and public charities. This full-time position reports directly to the Vice President and is a vital member of the development team. The Manager is responsible for writing and submitting comprehensive proposals, managing grantor relationships, tracking grant requirements and milestones, completing timely reports, and managing internal records of the Center’s private and public funding from national, international, and government-related sources. The Manager will also diligently research new opportunities for funding.


 

The Manager will develop a thorough understanding of our work and its value and be excellent at communicating our work to prospective and current foundation staff and trustees. This person will show full competency when it comes to setting goals, finding opportunities, and securing funding from foundations.


 

Position shares management of the Communications and Development Coordinator with the Communications Manager.


 

Responsibilities:

Institutional Fundraising

  • Work closely with the Vice President, program teams and the Executive Team to develop and implement strategies to meet annual and long-term fundraising goals.
  • Identify and cultivate suitable institutional donors to support CLLC’s programs by conducting independent research and/ or building existing relationships.
  • Use CLLC’s internal tools to assess alignment of upcoming opportunities. Provide recommendations for advancement and strategy based on assessments.
  • Build a strong and strategic pipeline by developing and executing donor specific engagement and fundraising strategies, co-developing and writing compelling project proposals and managing the corresponding processes and coordination.
  • Manage transitions from proposal process to grant implementation to post-grant evaluations with program staff and Senior Director of Conservation.

 

Grants Management

  • Manage existing grant portfolio by tracking grant requirements and communicating timelines with program staff; managing and improving internal reporting systems; writing and/or overseeing reports; maintaining excellent historical records; schedule and facilitate grant portfolio meetings with program and finance staff.
  • Coordinate with all appropriate parties to gather information for successful grant proposals and implementation: the Finance team for budget creation, budget tracking and financial reporting; program staff for deliverables development, deliverable tracking and narrative reporting; Communications staff, etc. Proactively streamline CLLC’s granting processes and systems for greater efficiency.
  • Oversee Comms/Dev Coordinator to ensure proper record keeping of executed agreements, appropriate IRS and funder thank you correspondence is distributed and records of reporting and funding request deadlines are maintained.
  • Prepare written and statistical reports for various audiences and ensure they meet grant requirements.
  • Lead and support development fundraising strategies for program initiatives.
  • Support activities related to the strategic direction of the Center and execute other duties as assigned or required by the organization.

 

Development Communications

  • Work closely with the Executive Team, Communications Team, and program staff to effectively communicate the organization’s mission, vision, programs, successes, and needs to funders.
  • With the Communications Manager and supported by the Communications/ Development Coordinator, develop, deliver and track donor cultivation through strategic communications. Examples of strategies include:
    • Quarterly donor engagement messages
    • Social media and donor engagement around program milestones
    • Support development of virtual fundraising campaigns including Giving Tuesday, Annual Appeal and Give Big

 

Development Operations

  • Responsible for management, assessment and adaptation of Development Team processes that support achievement of organizational fundraising goals. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Ensuring donor CRM platform is accurate and fully utilized.
    • Draft, implement and track success of a fundraising plan for institutional donors with input from the Vice President, Senior Director of Conservation and Chief Operating Officer.
    • Draft, implement and evaluate team workplan with guidance from the Vice President and Communications Manager.
