DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, positions in this title can be assigned to Inpatient, Outpatient and Home Infusion units within the Pharmacy Department. The Pharmacy Technician, assists the pharmacist in the preparation of medications for patient use (oral and parenteral) according to established procedures; assists in the distribution of medications; performs computer order entry, record keeping, and billing functions; maintains inventory levels; Will perform assigned operational duties in a scheduled area and will assist pharmacists in completing medication orders and related distribution duties in the assigned areas.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) issued by PTCB.

  • Pharmacy Technician License issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy.

  • Three (3) or more years of experience with supervisory responsibilities or project management/system responsibility (e.g., Pyxis, narcotic control, QI, or pharmacy buyer/biller/analyst) OR is a Pharmacy School graduate OR has had expanded responsibilities over several areas OR possess a Pharmacy Intern License.

  • Must be able to compound chemotherapy medications.

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of pharmacy state and federal regulations.

  • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service and counseling skills.

  • Must have knowledge of pharmacy terminology and calculations.

  • Must have computer experience and accurate data entry skills.

  • Must have organizational skills to sort, file and retrieve information.

  • Must have the ability to manage assigned workload within deadlines.

  • Must have the ability to work in a self-directed work team environment and function effectively in a high-volume, multiple demand environment.

  • Must be a self-starter who is accountable and requires minimal direction and supervision; a person who is open to new ideas; and a creative and flexible individual who is comfortable working in a large, complex organization.

  • Must possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $83,186 - $83,186 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $39.84 - $39.84

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
