We are Alpha Supported Living Services, a non-profit organization, we provide residential and community-based services to adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Job Summary

The Children’s Program Director is responsible for the children’s Out of Home Services (OHS) and Intensive Habilitative Services (IHS) programs. This position will oversee the provision of support to program participants and provide general management of the programs. The Children’s Program Director also interacts with program participants and so must be familiar with the Guiding Values issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA). At all times, the Director of Special Programs will seek to act in accord with the principles and values expressed and uphold the agency mission.

Day-to-Day

  • Provide personnel supervision to assigned staff
    • Annual reviews
    • Time card compliance
    • Performance management
    • Skill development

 

  • Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and seminars; complete individual training requirements annually and maintain certifications and licensures, as required
    • Attend mandatory training to complete:
      • First Aid / CPR
      • Blood borne pathogens
  • Mandated reporter
  • Operate a personal and/or agency vehicle on a regular basis; Maintain personal vehicle in a safe operating condition:
  • Maintain certifications and licenses, as a condition of employment:
    • Washington State Driver’s license and automobile registration
    • Automobile insurance that meets Washington State requirements

 

  • Develop proposals to serve individuals referred to and considered for placement in the agency’s children’s OHS and IHS programs.
  • Work with DDA resource managers to set rates for new clients
  • Assess the needs and staffing supports for clients and facilitate the transition to supported services
  • Plan, facilitate, and keep records of meetings with families/guardians
  • Develop care plans for IHS residents with the purpose of presenting and training families upon discharge.
  • Be available for ongoing consultation for IHS clients as needed.

 

  • Provide oversight and management for the children’s OHS and IHS programs
  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure they are in line with the contracted supervision levels reimbursed by DDA
  • Account for all aspects of client care and support services, and ensure each program participant has a treatment plan that reflects their unique needs
  • Manage incident report tracking, analyze for patterns of behaviors
  • Serve as an emergency contact for on-call purposes, and serve as a liaison with DDA personnel for notification of emergent situations
  • Provide quality assurance reviews as needed

 

  • Write Functional Assessments and Positive Behavior Support Plans for each client in the children’s OHS and IHS programs
    • Provide training and consultation to staff to ensure effective implementation of plans
    • Collect and compile data of applicable target and replacement behaviors.
    • Analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of behavioral supports and strategies and modify plans based upon data and observations.
    • Compile tracking sheets and chart behaviors on a monthly basis to determine any patterns
    • Provide quarterly progress reports for each individual in the programs for both internal and external stakeholders
    • Oversee the submission, approval and implementation of Exceptions to Policy or Rule pertaining to restrictions or those that occur as a result of Positive Behavior Support Plans; ensure annual renewal, as necessary
    • Review and revise plans, every 6 months, at a minimum

 

  • Ensure compliance with legal, contractual and regulatory guidelines
  • Create and maintain related documentation as needed or assigned
  • Collaborate with the Director of Human Resources to ensure continuing education requirements are met
  • Ensure program staff have completed the appropriate course orientation to the agency and its participants before assuming their responsibilities

 

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Special Programs Director

  • Demonstrated knowledge of housing and facilities management
  • Ability to anticipate problems and take steps toward meeting them, including contingency planning
  • Ability to develop a number of ideas about relevant topics
  • Strong knowledge of the non-profit industry to know how other non-profit organizations are approaching similar issues
  • Intermediate ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events) and then apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Advanced ability to communicate with people inside and outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, funders, donors, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, by telephone or e-mail

 

Job Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age
  • A master’s degree from a recognized college or university in a field approved by DCYF for this position per WAC 110-145-1460
  • At least five years’ experience working in social services and at least two years’ experience project, operations and/or management
  • A Washington State Driver’s License, current vehicle insurance and able to be covered on Alpha Supported Living Services’ automobile insurance based upon driving record
  • Background inquiry clearance from an authorized state agency

Starting Wage:

$79,040

Wage Scale:

$79,040 - $102,960

Benefits:

Benefits for Full-Time Employees (30 hours or more a week) include Medical, Dental, Vision, 403(b) (non-profit version of a 401(k)) with company match, Life Insurance, Tuition Savings Program, and Tuition Reimbursement. Employees working 34 or more hours a week are eligible for PTO accrual.
