(CLI) is a dynamic non-profit organization dedicated to teaching writers of color how to write and publish books. Our mission is to empower underrepresented voices by providing comprehensive literary education and fostering a supportive community for aspiring authors. We offer a range of programs through our various branches, including World Stage Press, our Publishing Class, and the Sims Library of Poetry. Each branch is committed to nurturing creativity, providing resources, and creating opportunities for writers to thrive.

Job purpose

Community Literature Initiative (CLI) is seeking an HR Representative to join our dedicated staff. In this role, you will assess the needs of each branch of CLI (World Stage Press, Publishing Class, and Sims Library of Poetry) and oversee strategic team building and perform full-cycle recruiting. This includes writing and advertising staff and volunteer opportunity descriptions, conducting resume screening and interviews, and ensuring thorough onboarding and training of incoming staff members and volunteers.

Additionally, you will get hands-on experience with business operations and establish a safe and comfortable environment for the staff and volunteers alike. Through your duties and responsibilities, you will gain direct exposure to how a fast-paced small 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is run, and you will truly make a difference in the community!

Duties and responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, and offboarding of employees, contractors and volunteers, which may include but is not limited to:
  • Create and refine job descriptions aligned to business needs
  • Post and manage job postings on VolunteerMatch and Indeed
  • Screen resumes and applications for high quality candidates
  • Schedule and conduct interviews via Zoom, while taking important notes
  • Prepare and assemble volunteer contracts and necessary hiring forms
  • Provide and assist on onboarding and training sessions via Zoom
  • Deliver offboarding materials and forms for outgoing staff and volunteers
  • Respond to emails and inquiries on a daily basis, as well are direct emails to their corresponding department
  • Update and administer the staff weekly schedule and employee timesheets on a weekly basis
  • Assist all managers, employees, and volunteers with their departmental operations relating to HR and administration
  • Complete and manage all other ad hoc paperwork regarding administrative operation and the overall growing business needs

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 per week

Schedule:

  • 4 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday

Education:

  • Associate (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Leadership: 2 years (Required)
