Employee Career Development is a new unit within NC State University Human Resources whose primary function is to assist employees in navigating career growth and development, identifying and aligning skills, knowledge, and talents with job roles and responsibilities, and goal setting for longer-term career success.
Essential Job Duties
The Employee Career Development Program Coordinator is essential to the newly created Employee Career Development unit at NC State. This role is responsible for the comprehensive management and support of career development services for university employees. Key duties include implementing services, developing partnerships, and conducting outreach within the university community. The role also involves providing direct consultative services to employees, helping them align their interests and talents with career opportunities, and setting career goals. Additionally, this position designs educational materials, assesses program needs and effectiveness, and recommends improvements. The Program Coordinator reports to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for HR Strategy and works closely with the ECD Counselor.

In this role you will work closely with senior HR leaders to gain valuable experience in HR strategy and program development. Through this interaction you will develop expertise in the latest HR theories, best practices, and trends, positioning the candidate as a subject matter expert in career development. Furthermore, as the ECD Coordinator you will have the opportunity to lead strategic initiatives, engage in continuous professional development, and contribute to meaningful organizational change and directly impact the career trajectories of employees across campus.

Minimum Education and Experience
Graduation from a four-year college or university and two years of progressively responsible experience analyzing, interpreting, applying, communicating, and promoting HR-related best practices and workforce planning in the context of organizational goals and objectives; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
Other Required Qualifications
- Proven track record of managing complex projects and programs, demonstrated by successfully overseeing projects/programs from initiation to completion within specified timelines and budgets.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with various types of audiences from multicultural backgrounds, varied levels of education, professional experience.
- Knowledge of career development, classification, compensation, and labor market structures and trends.
- Working knowledge of counseling and feedback theories
- Experience in program development/design.
- Sensitivity, and demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of populations, understanding FERPA, HIPPA, EEO, and confidentiality requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer experience in designing new programs or initiatives.
- Professional certifications in leadership assessment, coaching, and/or employee assessments and development tools are preferred.
- Prefer demonstrated experience in program management roles.
